Lose your job? Perhaps it's time to open your own business...

One of the most popular advice suggestions for those who have lost a job is to look at this as a chance to start their own business, that if they had dreamed about doing this "some time" then perhaps now would be the time. One way many people do this is by taking advantage of a franchise opportunity to start their own business.

Many times this is less expensive and less of a risk than starting a business of your own from scratch. You may think of franchises as being related primarily to the food industry, but that is very far from the case. From Automotive to franchises that specialize in services for Women, there are thousands of different franchise opportunities out there.

If I could find one for political blogging? I'd be ready.

Lisa Renee,

Oh come on, I hear these commercials on TV and the radio talking about all of the money out there for people working at home on their computers. Why on WSPD alone, I heard a guy saying that if I wanted to make $5000 per week, he can show me. If I wanted to earn $5000 per month, piece of cake.

My question is, if you know how to make that kind of money at home on a computer, why in the name of all that is greedy would you tell anyone (except maybe family and friends of course)? I doubt that I am capable of keeping silent on anything, but I think I might be on something like this.

Tim, that's a bit different than buying your own franchise, which is what this post was about. That said, there are ways to make money online though I have never personally met anyone who made $5,000 per week or even $5,000 a month. It's possible to earn a few hundred a month, depending on your website traffic.

I'd be happy to share with you some of that information via email.

Lisa Renee,

I understood the point of the post, but could not resist the comparison to the get rich schemes that currently seem to be the rage.

I just finished an interesting book (that you may have already read) "The Cult of the Amateur". It spoke to the potential revenue opportunities available in blogging. I fear that the traffic volume on my small effort will never come close to that on the sites work your magic on. As a consequence, I will probably just leave it as it is; though I do appreciate the thought.

I am constantly astonished with level of recognition that JustBlowingSmoke has gained me, as well as the opportunities that is has provided.
